Here are some of my pictures from my Lake Tahoe budget snowboard trip last week.  It snowed about a foot the night before and about 6 inches while we were snowboarding.  My friend and I flew up from Burbank to Sacramento on Southwest to visit our other friend in Sacramento.  We snowboarded at Sierra at Tahoe, which I highly recommend because it isn’t that crowded and the scenery is amazing.  It was also fun snowboarding through the trees and exploring some of the backcountry.  We planned to do two days of snowboarding but only ended up doing one day because they closed down the road to get to Homewood Ski Resort, and we would have had to drive another 1.5 hours.  We were well satisfied with one full day of snowboarding.  We had some time exploring the town and enjoying the Lake Tahoe view.

I used an old Southwest voucher and I used about 8,000 Southwest points for my friend’s ticket.  For tickets, we bought Snowbomb tickets for $65 with a 8.4% Bigcrumbs rebate on Google Offers.  We spent one night at the Howard Johnson hotel in South Lake Tahoe.  It turned out to be a great budget hotel for 3 of us in a triple queen bedroom for 16,000 Wyndham points.  The going rate for a triple queen bedroom was $85 at the time, so it wasn’t that bad of a redemption rate because I bought 16,000 Wyndham points from a prior promotion for $54.  I didn’t even know there was such thing as a triple queen room We also had free continental breakfast, which consisted of breads and cereal.  Nothing fancy, but it did the job.  The great thing about budget hotels such as Howard Johnson is that they almost never charge for parking.  We could have stayed at the Marriott down the street but would be nickeled and dimed for parking and other resort fees.  These low budget hotels don’t seem to get much credit, but they are actually not bad.  I’m beginning to get tired of getting nickled and dimed at these high end resorts….

Anyways here are some pictures from our Lake Tahoe budget snowboard trip…
