Austrian Airlines Business Class Salzburg to Frankfurt
Lufthansa New Business Class Frankfurt to Los Angeles
The reason why I’m posting a review on a 55-minute flight because I wanted to show how much better other countries airlines are compared to our American carriers. My flight on Austrian Airlines Business Class Salzburg to Frankfurt exceeded my expectations. I was able to depart from Salzburg to Frankfurt as part of my international itinerary from SZG-FRA-LAX for only 50,000 United miles.
We arrived at Salzburg Airport by taxi (our first taxi of the trip), which cost 20 Euros from the city. Unfortunately Salzburg airport has no airport lounge, but has free WiFi internet throughout the airport. We passed security quickly and we were on our way to board the plane. We also bought some Mozart chocolate balls, which I don’t get why they are so popular. They taste like crap.
Intra-Europe business class is just economy class with the middle seat blocked out. The seats are nothing special. I was not expecting much from this flight, but 10 minutes after liftoff we were served a full meal. I was only expecting like some peanuts or a pretzel. I finished every bit of the meal, which is something I rarely to on an airline meal.
Why can’t US based airlines be as good as European and Asian carriers? The ironic part was that this meal was better than any meal I had on a domestic first class in US and even better than my meal on my British Airways flight. By the time I finished my meal, we were descending for landing.
I strongly recommend Austrian Airlines. Hopefully I can try out their long haul business class one day. It might be a while because I’m pretty Europe’d out right now. I know it’s a first world problem, but all this was possible due to airline points and miles. Without that, I would probably be stuck at home.
We made our way to the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel, which wasn’t that eventful. The hotel was clean and gave us a good nights rest. At 4,000 SPG and $60 it was a great deal (cost more now).
