AMEX Gift Cards Topcashback (2% cash back) is ending September 30. Why should you care? Right now you can order American Express gift cards $3.95 for $500. Usually shipping is $8.95, but right now you can get a $5.95 shipping discount if you use WEDDINGAFL.
The WEDDINGAFL code only works on business gift cards. SUMMER2013 works on personal gift cards, but I couldn’t get it to work for a $500 gift card. Topcashback states that coupon codes listed on Topcashback will qualify for the 2% cashback. Therefore, I assume it is safe to stack the coupon code and the cash back.
The point of buying AMEX gift cards in combination with Topcashback is that you could meet minimum spend or earn extra points for no cost. Here’s a cost breakdown:
- Buy $500 AMEX gift card through TopCashback with $3.95 fee
- Apply WEDDINGAFL code = $5.95 discount
- Earn 2% Topcashback on $500 gift card = $10.00 cash back
- Total cost = ($3.95) purchase fee + ($8.95 shipping fee) + $5.95 discount + $10.00 Topcashback= +$2.05
After receiving the Topcashback, you can earn $2.05 and points from whatever credit card you used. From my experience, Topcashback is legit. Topcashback has been very consistent for me in the past, but some people have had problems.
Is it worth it?
I think if you have a lot of minimum spend to meet, this can be another way. To liquidate AMEX gift cards, you can use Amazon Payments. My strategy is to use AMEX gift cards in my three person method with Amazon Payments. I wouldn’t really go overboard on this method though. Maybe some of you can think of other ways this might be useful.
After September 30, 2013, Topcashback will end on American Express gift cards. AMEX gift cards cannot be loaded to Bluebird because they do not have a PIN. AMEX gift cards Topcashback may not be the most ideal way of gift card churning, but it’s still an option.
Disclosure: The Topcashback link is my referral link, thank you if you choose to use it.
