I’ve had a lot of trouble with US Airways share miles promo the past few days. This promo is probably US Airways’ biggest promo for buying miles for cheap, at about 1.15 cents each. Here’s a good explanation of the promo by ThePointsguy. I made some accounts on October 1 because accounts need to be at least 12 days old to participate. When I tried to transfer from my old account to a new account, the transfer was not instant and is still stuck in limbo. When I transferred from an old account to another old account, the transfer was instantaneous. People on this Flyertalk thread been having similar experiences and Jeff from CanadianKilometers has been having problems too.
The problem is that I have a booking for 3 tickets on hold that was about to expire. Here is my situation, maybe someone can shed some light on my situation.
- Account A has 90,000 miles and account B has 0 miles
- Transferred 45,000 miles to make 90,000 miles to account B.
- Transaction went through, but miles did not go through.
- Since reservation was expiring, I booked US Airways ticket with account A.
- Booked other 2 tickets with account C.
My hope is that the transfer from Account A to B will fail to go through because I was able to book a ticket with my 90,000 miles. Therefore, I have 0 miles in my account and Points.com will see I have no miles and cancel my transaction and give me a refund. My concern is that they will not give me a refund and my $ will be stuck in limbo. I don’t really want to get the credit card company involved, but would I have to? Any expert advice out there? I guess I might just have to wait and see. This US Airways share miles promo is turning out to be messy. Anybody else having trouble with US Airways share miles promo?
