I have to say that I love AMEX and their AMEX Offers they constantly roll out.  AMEX Offers are promotions you can add to each of your AMEX credit cards and earn a rebate automatically afterwards.  For example, recently there is a $5 off $10 spent at Starbucks’ online store and $5 off $10 purchase at Petco.com.  You would think that a $5 savings is not that much, but when you multiply it by multiple cards, the savings really do add up.  Although I don’t take this practice to the max, but here is how I maximize AMEX offers.

You can enroll in the same AMEX Offer per American Express credit card you hold.  The only case that this may not be true is if some offers are targeted.  I currently hold the following American Express credit cards:

  • American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Personal Credit Card
  • AMEX Everyday Blue Cash Credit Card
  • AMEX Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card
  • AMEX Delta Gold Skymiles Credit Card

Note you can hold 4 AMEX credit cards, not including charge cards.  I could also be holding an AMEX Platinum or Gold credit card, but I don’t right now.  The following are also eligible for AMEX Offers

  • AMEX Serve
  • Authorized Users of AMEX credit cards

I currently hold an AMEX Serve credit card, that I’m transferring $1,000 from my Barclaycard Arrival Plus credit card to earn an extra 2,000 Barclaycard points per month (a potential $22.22 per month).  I also have my wife as an authorized user on one of my AMEX credit cards.

To link these two cards, I sync them to twitter here using two separate accounts.  I could theoretically add multiple authorized users and create multiple Twitter accounts to further maximize AMEX Offers.

Loading AMEX Offers

I think the best way to load AMEX Offers is using a multiple tabs method I explained here.  You basically open up multiple tabs (ctrl+T), log in multiple times, and load the same offer on different cards at the same time.

The other way is syncing your AMEX card to Twitter.  I would make a separate account for each AMEX card and keep a log to what’s synced to what.

With my four AMEX credit cards, AMEX Serve credit card, and authorized user account, I have a total of 6 accounts to enroll in AMEX Offers.  I recently enrolled all 6 of these accounts to the #AMEXStarbucks and #AMEXPetco offer.  Both of these offers give a $5 statement credit with a $10 purchase.  I bought $60 worth of Starbucks gift cards and $60 of Petco gift cards online.  I will be receiving a total of $60 in statement credits.  It took me probably about 10 minutes to load up all the offers, and another 45 minutes to buy all the gift cards.  I will be using these gift cards for gifts and for my future pet expenses.  That’s about 1 hour of work for $60 and some points along with it.  I’ll take it!

Conclusion

It’s definitely worth it to maximize AMEX Offers by signing up over multiple cards.  You can potentially earn lots statement credits for money you probably would spend anyways.  Another major reason to get set up to maximize AMEX Offers is that Small Business Saturday will occur soon and you can earn up to $30 per AMEX credit card!

Why don’t you add your wife as an authorized user on the rest of your Amex cards? I found that the online interface to add AUs only worked for half of my cards, but I could get AUs added for the rest just by calling.

You can also add up to 4 sub-account cards on Serve for a total of 5. I could’ve sworn I read somewhere that people have even succeeded in adding themselves as one of the sub-accounts.

So all in all you could have 13 eligible Amex offer accounts, 18 if your wife gets her own Serve card. It is a pain setting up all the Twitter accounts for Serve but the Amex Offers have gotten so good that I finally decided it’s worth the one-time effort.

Yes, that’s how I would really maximize it. I’ll get around to it soon. Also be careful about AMEX financial review.

Have you confirmed getting the credit from buying Starbucks gift cards? I was about to buy one but the gift cards don’t seem to be under the store.starbucks.com jurisdiction and when I put it in the cart, it doesn’t show up in the same cart as the store.starbucks.com cart. 🙁 Let me know if it works for you! Unless I’m doing it wrong! 🙂

    Thanks!

Thanks! Oh interesting, so I can just reload my gold card through my phone with my registered Amex and it counts as a stores.starbucks.com purchase? But buying a new email gift card doesn’t count?

I synced my AMEX serve with twitter and got email confirmation that it is synced. BUT… I cant register to my American Express.com (I have 2 others amex cc’s) account. When I go to ADD ACCOUNT and put in my AMEX SERVE # it says:
    “We’re sorry.
This Card is issued and serviced by SERVE VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE INC. ; and, therefore, cannot be registered on this site.
The American Express Blue Box on the card signifies the card is accepted at all American Express merchant locations.”

Are you supposed to add a separate AMEX account/ID/email for just Serve accounts? When I login to AMEX SERVE I don’t see anyplace for Amex Offers on that site either? Please help

    Thanks!
